Nhận biết danh từ đếm được và danh từ không đến được.

	Danh từ đếm được(Countable Nouns)	Danh từ không đếm được(Uncountable Nouns)
Khái niệm	Danh từ chỉ những thứ có thể đếm được bằng số. Ví dụ: Two cats	Danh từ chỉ những thứ KHÔNG thể đếm được bằng số. Ví dụ: Milk
Loại 1	Hai dạng hình thái: số ít và số nhiều. Số ít chuyển thành số nhiều bằng cách thêm e/es. Ví dụ: Oranges, Peaches.	Chỉ có MỘT dạng hình thái
Loại 2	Phải sử dụng mạo từ a/an/the hoặc số đếm đi kèm theo.Lưu ý: không được đứng một mình. Ví dụ: A đog, The Mars	Có thể đứng một mình hoặc cùng với mạo từ the, KHÔNG đi với a/an hay số đếm mà phải đi kèm danh từ đếm được chỉ đơn vị do lường khác.  Ví dụ: A cup of milk
Loại 3	Danh từ đếm được số nhiều đứng sau many, a few, few. Ví dụ: Many people, a few day	Danh từ không đếm được đứng sau: much, a little, little Ví dụ:a little, much money

Quy tắc chuyển danh từ đếm được từ số ít sang số nhiều

Số ít (singular) → số nhiều (plural)	Ví dụ
Kết thúc bằng ‑s, -ss, -sh, -ch, -x, -o hay -z → thêm -es vào cuối	glass → glasses potato → potatoes
Kết thúc bằng -f, -fe, -ff → bỏ đi rồi thêm -ves vào cuối	wife → wivesknife → knives
Kết thúc bằng phụ âm + -y → chuyển -y thành -i rồi thêm -es vào cuối	family → families city → cities
Kết thúc bằng nguyên âm + -y → thêm -s vào cuối	boy → boys ray → rays
Kết thúc bằng ‑us → chuyển -us thành -i	cactus → cacti
Kết thúc bằng ‑is → chuyển -is thành -es	analysis → analyses
Kết thúc bằng ‑on → chuyển -on thành -a	phenomenon → phenomena
Các trường hợp thông thường → thêm -s vào cuối danh từ	dog → dogscake → cakes
Một số danh từ không thay đổi khi chuyển từ số ít sang số nhiều	sheep → sheepseries → seriesspecies → species
